3 Days Desert Tour From Marrakech to Merzouga

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Skoura – Rose Valley – Boumalne Dades

We begin our Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour with an early pick-up from your accommodation. As we head into the High Atlas Mountains, the landscape transforms dramatically—offering panoramic views, twisting roads, and traditional Berber villages clinging to the cliffs. The drive through the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260m) is an experience in itself.

Soon after, we reach the legendary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for films like Gladiator and shows like Game of Thrones. After a guided walk and optional lunch, the road leads to Ouarzazate, Morocco’s film-making capital. Continuing on, we pass through the lush Skoura Oasis and colorful Rose Valley, before arriving at your cozy riad in Boumalne Dades. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and a restful night surrounded by the gorge’s striking beauty.

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Canyon – Erfoud – Merzouga – Camel Ride – Luxury Desert Camp

After breakfast, we explore the winding roads and scenic rock formations of Dades Gorge, known as the “Monkey Fingers” for its unique cliff shapes. Then, we drive to Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most dramatic canyons, where you’ll have free time to walk between its towering red walls and enjoy the cool stream at the bottom.

Next, we head deeper into the desert, passing Berber villages like Tinjdad and Touroug, and stopping in Erfoud, famous for fossil workshops. By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where camels await. Begin your camel trekking adventure into the Erg Chebbi dunes, pausing for a surreal Sahara sunset from a towering dune. Later, arrive at your luxury desert camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner, live drumming, and a peaceful night under the sparkling desert sky.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Anti-Atlas – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Wake up early to witness the unforgettable sunrise over the Sahara, then return by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga. After breakfast, we visit Rissani, a lively market town with deep historical roots, then continue along the quiet desert roads toward Alnif.

From here, we follow the magnificent Draa Valley, the longest river oasis in Morocco, lined with endless palm groves and dotted with ancient kasbahs. As we cross the rugged Anti-Atlas Mountains, the scenery shifts once again before we return to Ouarzazate for a short rest stop. Finally, we cross the Tizi N’Tichka Pass back to Marrakech, where your 3-day desert journey concludes with drop-off at your riad or hotel.
