This 6-day adventure through Morocco begins in the cosmopolitan city of Casablanca and journeys east toward the spiritual and cultural capital of Fes. Along the way, you’ll explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the imperial city of Meknes, and the alpine town of Ifrane. As the landscape shifts, you’ll pass through cedar forests, Middle Atlas valleys, and Berber villages before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga. There, the desert experience awaits — complete with camel rides, luxury tents, and stargazing by the campfire.
From the Sahara, the route winds through dramatic canyons like Todra and Dades, toward historic kasbahs and Hollywood-famous sets in Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou. You’ll cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass before descending into vibrant Marrakech. This journey blends nature, culture, and history into an unforgettable North African experience — perfectly designed for curious travelers with limited time.
Upon arrival in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital, you’ll be welcomed by your driver and guided to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world. With its ornate minaret overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it’s a striking blend of tradition and engineering marvel.
After lunch, continue exploring key city sights, including Mohammed V Square, a stroll along the palm-lined Corniche, and a photo stop at Rick’s Café. Depending on your flight schedule, the itinerary remains flexible to ensure a fulfilling introduction to Morocco. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Casablanca.
Depart after breakfast for the ancient Roman city of Volubilis. Wander among its mosaics, marble pillars, and triumphal arches. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Volubilis offers a rare glimpse into North Africa’s Roman past.
Continue to Meknes, the Ismaili capital, where you’ll visit Bab El Mansour, the Royal Stables, and the tranquil Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Afterward, journey to Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. Arrive in the evening and settle into your traditional riad in the medina.
Your local guide will lead a comprehensive tour through Fes, one of the oldest medieval cities in the world. Begin with panoramic views from Borj Sud, then visit the Royal Palace’s golden gates and the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter).
Enter the medina to discover its labyrinth of alleyways. Highlights include the Al Quaraouiyine University, Al Attarine Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the famous Chouara Tanneries. Watch artisans dye leather using ancient techniques. Conclude with a return to your riad for rest and a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at Ifrane, a picturesque town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” before continuing to Azrou’s cedar forest, home to wild Barbary macaques.
After lunch in Midelt, cross the dramatic Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and descend into the lush Ziz Valley, known for its date palms and ancient kasbahs. Arrive in Merzouga where your desert adventure begins. Ride camels across golden dunes to a luxury Sahara camp. Enjoy a Berber dinner and music under the stars.
Catch a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes before returning by camel or 4WD. Visit Rissani’s traditional market and Erfoud’s fossil workshops.
Journey to the Todra Gorges, where sheer rock faces rise dramatically from the valley floor. After lunch, drive through the Dades Valley. Marvel at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and take in sweeping views of the valley’s kasbahs and gardens. Dinner and overnight in a scenic Dades hotel.
Start your final day with a drive through the Rose Valley and palm groves of Skoura. Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where films like Gladiator and The Mummy were shot.
Visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Game of Thrones filming location. Then cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening, marking the end of your enriching Moroccan adventure.
Yes, camel rides are safe and guided by professionals. If you have mobility issues or prefer not to ride camels, a 4WD transfer to the desert camp is available. The ride is gentle, scenic, and adds a traditional desert experience to your journey.
You’ll stay in boutique riads or quality hotels in cities like Fes and Casablanca. In the desert, a luxury Berber-style camp with private bathrooms awaits. All accommodations are selected for comfort, cultural ambiance, and traveler satisfaction.
Pack light layers, warm clothing for chilly desert nights, and comfortable walking shoes. Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a small backpack are essential. A scarf for camel rides and a camera to capture landscapes and architecture are highly recommended.
