To begin your 5-Day Morocco Desert Tour, your guide will pick you up from your Marrakech accommodation or the airport. Immediately, the adventure begins as you travel through the High Atlas Mountains, stopping along the way for panoramic views of the rugged terrain and lush valleys. Moreover, you’ll have the chance to photograph the Berber villages scattered throughout the mountain ranges.
After the scenic drive, we will proceed to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has been featured in several Hollywood films. Following this, you’ll continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” There, you can enjoy a traditional dinner and relax before spending the night at a comfortable hotel.
On the second day, after breakfast, we will explore Ouarzazate. First, we will visit the Atlas Studios, where you’ll discover the history of many blockbuster movies filmed in the region. Additionally, you’ll tour the Taourirt Kasbah, a beautifully preserved fortress that showcases Morocco’s traditional architecture.
Afterward, we drive along the Draa Valley, which is known for its towering palm trees and Berber villages. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the kasbahs and the vibrant landscape. Later, we will arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Once there, you will embark on a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes and watch the mesmerizing sunset. Finally, you’ll enjoy a night in a luxury desert camp where Berber music, a traditional dinner, and the starry sky will complete the magical experience.
On day three, you’ll wake up early to witness the unforgettable Sahara sunrise, casting golden hues over the sand dunes. Afterward, we will return to Merzouga on camels and begin our exploration of the Merzouga region. First, you’ll visit an ancient eyeliner mine before heading to the nomadic Berber families, where you’ll have the chance to enjoy Berber tea in their traditional handmade tents.
Following this, we will continue our journey to Khamlia, a village famous for its Gnaoua music. Here, the local community, originally from sub-Saharan Africa, will offer you a captivating performance that includes music and dance. Later, we’ll visit the Merzouga Lake, home to flamingos and other migratory birds. After a leisurely lunch, you’ll have free time to relax and soak in the tranquil atmosphere before returning to your hotel for dinner.
After breakfast on day four, we leave Merzouga and head toward Rissani, a historic town and the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region. Here, you’ll explore the Rissani Souk, a lively market where locals sell fresh produce, textiles, and handcrafted goods. Continuing on, we drive toward Erfoud, a town known for its fossilized marble, and visit a local workshop where you’ll learn about the ancient fossils found in the area.
Later, we continue through the Todra Gorges, a breathtaking canyon with towering cliffs that stretch skyward, creating a dramatic landscape. After lunch, we head toward Dades Valley, making a stop at the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. In the evening, you’ll have dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night in a hotel in Dades Valley, ready for the final leg of the journey.
On the last day of your tour, we start with a visit to the Rose Valley in Kalaa Magouna, where the annual Rose Festival takes place. Here, the locals celebrate their rose products, such as perfumes, rose water, and rose oil. Next, we drive through the Skoura palm groves, where you’ll visit the Amridil Kasbah, a well-preserved structure surrounded by lush greenery.
Afterward, we continue to Ouarzazate, where you can enjoy free time for lunch before beginning the journey back to Marrakech. Along the way, we pass through the scenic Tizi-N-Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains, with incredible views of the mountainous landscape. Finally, we will drop you off at your Marrakech accommodation or the airport, concluding your unforgettable desert adventure.
