Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca & Coastal City Exploration

We will greet you at the airport or your accommodation and start our tour at the awe-inspiring Hassan II Mosque. After taking in the grandeur of the mosque, we will delve deeper into the city’s unique character. You’ll have free time for a leisurely lunch before we continue our exploration. Depending on your arrival schedule, we can visit Mohammed V Square, a vibrant public space showcasing elegant French colonial architecture, and make a photo stop at the legendary Rick’s Café, a nostalgic homage to the classic film. A stroll along the lively Corniche, with its ocean breeze and bustling cafes, provides a perfect end to the day. You will then settle into your comfortable Casablanca hotel for the night.

Day 2: From Rabat, the Capital, to the Blue Pearl of Chefchaouen 

After a delicious breakfast, our journey continues north along the scenic Atlantic coastline to Rabat, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and its modern-day capital. Here, history and modernity coexist seamlessly. We will explore the city’s most significant landmarks, starting with the Hassan Tower, the striking minaret of an incomplete 12th-century mosque. Adjacent to it lies the elegant Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of modern Alaouite dynasty architecture, which houses the tombs of the Moroccan king and his two sons.

Our tour of Rabat also includes a visit to the Kasbah of the Udayas, a historic fortress at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river. Lose yourself in its narrow, whitewashed streets, accented with vibrant blue doors and flowerpots, offering stunning views of the ocean. After some free time for lunch, we will head inland, driving through the picturesque landscapes of the Rif Mountains to reach the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen. Day 3: Roman Ruins, Imperial Meknes, and Arrival in Fes

Today begins with an opportunity to wander through the serene, blue-hued alleyways of Chefchaouen at your own pace. After soaking in its unique atmosphere, we will depart for the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This remarkably well-preserved archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage landmark, offers a fascinating glimpse into the Roman Empire’s southernmost province. You can walk among ancient pillars, triumphant arches, and stunningly detailed mosaics that tell stories of a bygone era, all set against a backdrop of rolling green hills.

From Volubilis, a short 30-kilometer drive takes us to Meknes, another of Morocco’s imperial cities, known for its grandiose architecture and historical significance as the Ismaili capital. Here, we will visit the monumental Bab Al-Mansour gate, the tranquil Sahrij Souani basin, and the vast Royal Stables and Granary, engineered to house thousands of horses. We will also see the revered Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. In the late afternoon, our journey concludes as we drive to Fes, the cultural and spiritual epicenter of Morocco, where you will settle into a traditional Riad for the night.

Day 4: Guided Exploration of Fes, the Spiritual Heart of Morocco 

After breakfast in your Riad, prepare for a captivating exploration of Fes, the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities. Our day begins with a driving tour to get a panoramic perspective of this ancient metropolis. We will make our first stop at the magnificent gates of the Royal Palace, famed for their intricate brasswork, before visiting the historic Jewish Quarter, or “Mellah.” From there, we ascend to the Borj Sud fortress, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view over the sprawling, ancient Medina, providing a sense of its immense scale and historical depth.

Next, accompanied by an expert local guide, you will dive into the heart of the medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a labyrinth of over 9,000 alleyways. This walking tour will transport you back in time as you visit landmarks like the Al Attarine Madrasa and the legendary Al Quaraouiyine University and Mosque, recognized as the oldest continuously operating university in the world. A highlight of the day is a visit to the famous Chouara Tanneries, where you can observe the age-old process of dyeing leather in vibrant pits. After this immersive cultural experience, we will return you to your Riad to relax.

Day 5: Journey to the Sahara via Ifrane, Cedar Forests, and Ziz Valley 

Our 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca takes a dramatic turn today as we travel south towards the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, our first stop is Ifrane, a unique town in the Middle Atlas Mountains often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and winter snow. From there, we continue to the nearby Cedar Forest, a sprawling ancient woodland that is home to the playful Barbary macaque monkeys. You’ll have the chance to walk among the giant cedar trees and even feed the friendly local inhabitants.

Continuing our journey, we will pass through Midelt, a town known for its apple orchards, where we will stop for lunch. The landscape then begins to shift as we cross the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and follow the path of the stunning Ziz Valley. This lush oasis, filled with thousands of palm trees, creates a stark, beautiful contrast against the arid canyon walls. In the late afternoon, we will arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Day 6: Desert Sunrise, Gorges, and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs 

An early morning wake-up is essential today to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara Desert. Watching the first light of day illuminate the dunes in shifting shades of orange, pink, and gold is an unforgettable experience. After a leisurely breakfast at the camp, you will ride your camel or take a 4×4 back to Merzouga to meet your driver. We then depart for Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region and a historic trading hub. We’ll take a stroll through its bustling souk, which is particularly lively on market days.

From Rissani, we drive to Erfoud, a town famous for its fossilized marble. We’ll visit a workshop to see how these ancient natural treasures are crafted into beautiful objects. Our journey continues through the vast palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. Here, the Todra River has carved a spectacular canyon through towering red cliffs, creating a paradise for rock climbers and nature lovers. After lunch, we proceed to the Dades Valley, making stops to admire the “monkey fingers” rock formations and enjoy a panoramic view over the valley before settling into your hotel for dinner.

Day 7: Dades Valley, Ait Ben Haddou, and Crossing the Atlas to Marrakech 

On the final day of our tour, we travel along the famous “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Our first stop is Kalaa Magouna, the center of Morocco’s rose-growing region, where we will visit the Rose Valley and a local cooperative to learn about their fragrant products. We then continue through the palm groves of Skoura to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where we will visit the renowned Atlas Film Studios, the location for many famous movies. From there, we proceed to the crown jewel of the region: the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou.

This spectacular fortified village, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of Morocco’s most iconic images. Its earthen-clay architecture has served as a backdrop for numerous films and TV series, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After exploring the kasbah, we begin our scenic drive towards Marrakech, ascending into the High Atlas Mountains and crossing the dramatic Tizi-n-Tichka pass at an elevation of 2,260 meters.
